Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
I find Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) extremely helpful for people with a history of trauma or exposure to trauma, and those that are feeling “stuck” in their life or in their therapy progress for any reason.
What is ART?
ART is a transformative method that provides rapid relief from trauma, stress, anxiety, and many other emotional struggles with the use of bilateral stimulation similar to EMDR-a well-known and researched trauma treatment. When indicated, it can be added to your treatment plan. Because ART typically achieves significant results in just a few sessions, it is a very effective way to move through mental health challenges in an efficient and effective way.
ART is rooted in neuroscience and has been scientifically proven. ART uses eye movements like those found in REM sleep to help rewire how your brain stores distressing memories. This technique allows your mind to shift its relationship with these memories, so the emotional charge is removed. Since you do not have to say the details of the traumatic memory out loud, it can be a less threatening method for clients to process than some other types of trauma therapy. ART also targets everyday stresses that keep you from living your best life. When used with regular individual counselling sessions, it can help you achieve your goals much more quickly than talk therapy alone.
